Salesmanship Merit Badge

We will be offering Salesmanship Merit Badge. This merit badge will take two Saturdays. The first Saturday is April 18 and the second Saturday is May 2.
On April 18 you will be learning about salesmanship, going over your pre-req and prepping for the second Saturday.
On May 2 you will be putting your Salesmanship skills to the test at the Minsi Trails Swap Meet. Details will be explained on April 18.
Both Saturdays will start at 9:00AM and plan to run to 12:00 Noon but it may end earlier.
You must attend both sessions and do the pre-reqs in order to complete the merit badge.
An adult is required to be on property during class time. Scouts must bring a blue card signed by their Scoutmaster.
The pre-reqs will be the following requirements. Be prepared on April 18 with the following:
6. Do ONE of the following:
(a) Interview a salesperson and learn the following:
(1) What made the person choose sales as a profession?
(2) What are the most important things to remember when talking to customers?
(3) How is the product sold?
(4) Include your own questions.
(b) Interview a retail store owner and learn the following:
(1) How often is the owner approached by a sales representative?
(2) What good traits should a sales representative have? What habits should the sales representative avoid?
(3) What does the owner consider when deciding whether to establish an account with a sales representative?
(4) Include at least two of your own questions.
7. Investigate and report on career opportunities in sales, then do the following:
(a) Prepare a written statement of your qualifications and experience. Include relevant classes you have taken in school and merit badges you have earned.
(b) Discuss with your counselor what education, experience, or training you should obtain so you are prepared to serve in a sales position.
