Minsi Trails Council is excited to offer the Mining in Society Merit Badge.  Scouts will have the opportunity to learn about the impact that mining has on our daily lives, and learn about the types of mining that support our modern world.  Scouts will meet at the Buzzi Unicem cement plant in Stockertown, PA, home to cement manufacturing for over 100 years as the maker of Hercules Cement.  The visit to the plant will allow scouts the opportunity to see the steps that Buzzi takes to be good stewards to the environment, including thr Wildlife Habit Council efforts in action since 2013.  Following the plant tour, scouts will reconvene at the Minsi Trails Council Scout Shop to complete the remaining requirements.

All participants must attend a pre-trip Zoom meeting to cover safety items, and must wear boots on the tour (no sneakers or open-toed shoes).  The plant will provide safety vests, eye wear, and hearing protection.

Immediately after the tour (approx. 10:00AM) drive to the Minsi Trails Council Scout Shop, 991 Postal Rd, Allentown, PA 18109.
