Merit Badge Days

In partnership with Minsi Trails Council Da Vinci Center is presenting the following exciting merit badge opportunities!

October 17, 2026: Digital Technology Merit Badge

Learn about digital technology—past, present and future! We’ll look at intellectual property, the 1’s and 0’s of how digital technology works, and use coding to create programs that are useful...and fun!

Scouts will complete Requirements 3, 4 , 5, 6(a) (c) and (f), 7, 8 (a) and (c), and 9 (a).

November 14, 2026: Artificial Intelligence Merit Badge

Artificial Intelligence is everywhere these days...but without understanding what it can and can’t do, we use it at our peril. We’ll give you the tools to understand and use AI smartly. We’ll examine automation, ethics, deepfakes, and how to harness AI for good.

Scouts will complete Requirements 1-6.

December 5, 2026: Oceanography Merit Badge

From waves to wildlife, the ocean is full of wonders (and mysteries)! We will be learning about the geology of the seafloor, how landforms affect wave patterns, and about careers in oceanography and underwater exploration.

Scouts will complete all requirements to earn this badge during the session.

Scouts will also get time in the oceanography-focused Finding Titanic special exhibition!

February 20, 2027: Composite Materials Merit Badge

Composite materials are a key ingredient in making many of the things we use regularly stronger and more effective. We’ll look at the properties of these materials; how to use them safely; careers in composites and materials science, and even make a couple of composite products to take home.

Scouts will complete Requirements 1(b), 2(b), 3(b), 4(a) or (b ), 5, and 6(a).

All sessions will run from 9 to 4 and include the following:

• A Scouting America registered Merit Badge Counselor (please arrive with Scoutmaster approved Blue Card)
• All necessary materials
• Lunch
• A DaVinci Center commemorative patch
• Admission to the museum the day the event
