RATA TRAINING WEEKEND

This is an opportunity for adults to earn NRA or Scouting America certifications for helping to conduct council sponsored range and target activities.  For example, we need qualified staff for day camps, Klondike Derbies, and unit shooting pre-arranged through the campmaster at 7MSC campouts.

When:  Friday, November 20, 2026 and Saturday November 21

Who:  Adults 21 and over (rifle or shotgun); Adults 18 and over (archery, BB gun, throwing)

Where: Seven Mountains Scout Camp (Dining Hall and Scouts BSA ranges and Cub range)

What:  Depending on instruction done, earn certification(s) for:

NRA Range Safety Officer

Scouting America Archery Rangemaster

Scoutign America BB Rangemaster

USA Archery Level 1 Instructor

Schedule:

Friday -   Registration 5-6 pm (in Dining Hall); RSO/Shooting Training 6pm – 9pm approx.

Saturday - Range Activities Supervision practical experience  9am to 4pm approx.

Fee: Participants would be charged actual cost of the RSO training cert approx. $25.00 (incl crackerbarrel Friday)

Overnight accommodations will be offered.  It is not required that participants spend the night.

Saturday Lunch Meal Options (select one): 

Snack bar run by Crew 497 as a fundraiser (Bring own money)

Bring own bag lunch

Eat with your Scout unit if you are staying the weekend at 7MSC

Scout units are encouraged to stay the weekend in a cabin or tent campsite. Units are responsible to make their own reservations at:  Black Pug Software - Camp Reservation
