Camp Pioneer - Summer Camp

Event Details

Camp Pioneer

For Scouts by Scouts.

Pioneer is where the ordinary ends and the epic begins. Whether you’re questing through immersive roleplay or trekking across volcanic ridgelines, every path leads to personal growth. It’s a place where you’ll crawl through frigid ice caves, summit mountain peaks, or spend hours strategizing around a tabletop—and somehow, it all builds the same Scout skills: teamwork, resilience, and leadership. At Camp Pioneer, you don’t just attend camp—you live the adventure.

Camp Pioneer offers several different non-traditional summer program options to pick from, each with a different style of adventure and challenge.

Cascade Chronicles

Throne Quest

Does your guild have what it takes to rule the kingdom?

An ancient prophecy has foretold a new heir to the throne of Jeffersonia. The king is holding a one-week contest for each guild to prove its value as the future leader of the kingdom. As guilds compete and quest, they will earn the king’s favor, and by the end of the week, a new heir will be crowned. Will it be you?

A Weeklong Adventure in Gaming, Roleplay, and Epic Quests

Calling all fans of tabletop games, roleplaying adventures, trading card games, and miniature battles!
Cascade Chronicles is a unique summer camp experience for Scouts age 13+ who love immersive stories, strategy games, and exploring gaming culture.

Board Games | Escape Rooms| RPGs (like D&D & Pathfinder) | TCGs (Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!) | Miniatures (Warhammer 40K) | And More!

Held at Camp Pioneer, this program runs Monday through Friday. Scouts can attend individually (adult leadership provided by the camp) or as part of a Troop with their own leaders.

What to Expect

Your time will be split between tabletop gaming—including tournaments and special events like Blood on the Clocktower—and live-action outdoor quests based on an original fantasy storyline.

Scouts are sorted into Guilds based on their interests (e.g., pirates, mages, adventurers). Guilds set the tone for your week of activities—ranging from escape room-style puzzles to treasure hunts and boat battles.

Throne Quest Storyline

A royal prophecy has declared the King must abdicate his throne to a worthy Guild. Throughout the week, Guilds will complete challenges to prove themselves.

  • Thursday Night: The Abdication Celebration where the King announces the chosen Guild.
  • Friday Morning: A final Royal Banquet crowns the victors at the King’s table.

Who Can Attend?

  • Open to registered Scouting youth ages 13+.
  • Younger Scouts are welcome with unit leader approval, though the program is designed for older youth and does not include merit badges.
  • All overnight adults must be a registered Scouting member.
  • Both individual Scouts and whole troops are welcome to sign up.

Eagle Camp

Ready to take a major step toward summitting Scouting?

Eagle Camp is a focused 3-day experience designed to help Scouts make significant progress on Eagle-required merit badges in a structured, supportive environment.

With preparation and commitment, Scouts can earn up to six Eagle-required merit badges during this program.

What to Expect

Eagle Camp is built around preparation, accountability, and focused instruction.

Before Camp:

Scouts will participate in pre-camp Zoom sessions to review prerequisites, begin required work, and ensure they arrive ready to maximize their time on-site.

During Camp:

  • Up to 4 different Eagle-required merit badges offered per session block
  • 8 total session blocks available (some badges require multiple sessions)
  • Small-group instruction and guided work time
  • Dedicated support from experienced merit badge counselors

This structure allows Scouts to concentrate deeply on advancement without the distractions of a traditional camp schedule.

Designed for Success

Eagle-required merit badges often involve planning, discussion, documentation, and preparation. By combining pre-camp virtual sessions with in-person instruction, Eagle Camp ensures Scouts come prepared and leave with real progress—or completed badges in hand.

Scouts should expect focused work sessions, active participation, and follow-through on assignments.

Who Can Attend?

  • Individual youth or entire units are welcome to register.
  • Open to registered Scouting youth who are prepared to take on Eagle-required merit badges.
  • All overnight adults must be registered Scouting members.
