Challenge Yourself in the Cascades

Cascade Trek is a brand-new high adventure program at Camp Pioneer inspired by Philmont Scout Ranch’s legendary treks. Designed for older Scouts and adult leaders seeking a physically demanding and truly rewarding outdoor experience, this program takes place in the remote, high-altitude backcountry of the Oregon Cascades.

Whether you’re looking to test your endurance, grow your leadership, or simply discover the breathtaking beauty of the alpine wilderness, Cascade Pioneer Trek offers a unique opportunity to do it all.

Program Overview

Each crew will hike a custom-designed itinerary through alpine lakes, rugged ridgelines, volcanic peaks, and old-growth forests surrounding Camp Pioneer. Routes include daily hiking, wilderness camping, and optional challenge elements like peak ascents, navigation challenges, and Leave No Trace certifications.

Your journey begins with 2–3 days of in-camp training and shakedown to prepare gear, review safety protocols, and acclimate to high elevation before heading into the backcountry
