BALOO Training Presented by Pacific Trail District

April 11-12, 2026
Presented by Pacific Trail District
Starting in 2026, all Cubmasters, Assistant Cubmasters and Den leaders must be BALOO trained.
Scouting America requires at least one BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation) - trained adult leader be present for any Cub Scout overnight camping.
This course is an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the discovery of the necessary tools to help units carry out a successful camping experience.
BALOO training consists of a short online prerequisite component and a hands-on practical course which includes camping overnight. Both portions of the training must be completed to earn certification.
Please complete the online portion of the training before you come to camp.
To access the online course:
• Log into my.scouting.org (same site & login used for Safeguarding Youth training).
• Select Menu in the upper left corner and select My Training.
• Select Training Center on the left menu bar, then select Cub Scouting.
• You can find BALOO Prerequisite Training under the Learning Plans tab.
The practical portion of BALOO training will be from Saturday at 8:00am to Sunday at 12:00pm. This includes in-person classes and activities, and a required overnight camping.
