Join us for an exciting look at Railroading - an American industry that's been around for over a century and a half!

At the Oregon Rail Heritage Center's Scout Day, you will learn:

  • How a locomotive works (steam and diesel)
  • How to be safe around trains and railroad property (Operation Lifesaver)
  • How parts are made for locomotives and rolling stock (Machine Shop)
  • Take a train ride on a historic railroad line, on vintage equipment

Scouts and their leaders are welcome to this exclusive, once-a-year event to view vintage rail equipment, talk with industry experts, learn first-hand how a railroad works and why they are so important in our everyday lives.

Chaperones for both Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA are required. The Scouting two-deep leadership policy will be followed.

Scouts BSA can work on earning portions of their Railroading Merit Badge. Cub Scouts can earn their Railroad Museum Segment Patch. All can learn about railway safety, technology, and the important role that railroads play in our economy. And if that wasn't enough, take a train ride along the beautiful Willamette River on the Oregon Pacific Railroad.

All participating scouts and leaders will receive a special, one-time event patch to commemorate the occasion.

The Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation is a non-profit, 501c(3) corporation dedicated to the preservation and education of Oregon's rich railroad history.

Cost
$10.00 per youth or adult chaperone. Chaperones for both Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA are required. The Scouting two-deep leadership policy will be followed.

Refund Policy
All reservations are nonrefundable.
