Jamboree on the Air (JOTA)
October 18, 2025 (Saturday)
Indian Nations Council is hosting the 68th Jamboree on the Air (JOTA). This international jamboree is held annually on the 3rd weekend of October and uses communication technology to connect Scouts from around the world. Be a part of the world’s largest amateur radio scouting event that promotes friendship and global citizenship. Activities include learning and using amateur radios (ham radios), Morse Code, see demonstration of technology, radio fox hunt (find the hidden transmitter), meet members from local amateur radio clubs, learn about how to become a licensed amateur radio operator, get help programming your radio, take the FFC licensing exam, and more.
Scouts BSA youth attending JOTA will satisfy requirement 7E of the Citizenship in The World Merit Badge. Cubs, Scouts BSA or Adult Scouters that are half-way proficient in Morse Code (CW) can test for the BSA interpreter strip. Scouts can also take the Radio Merit Badges class. This MB class will be (2) three-hour blocks starting at 9:30am. Bring a Scoutmaster signed blue card to 1 of our Merit Badge Councilors at the Pavilion. Prior to week of event, Contact a Radio merit badge counselor for any prerequisites. List of MB Councilors can be found in the JOTA Leaders guide link available online at okscouts.org calendar site. When not in merit badge class scouts should get on the radios and make contact around the world.
Scouts wanting to take and pass the FCC Technician exam (only 35 questions) will need to start studying NOW (Cost is $5 per youth/$15 per Adult Scouter and bring an ID). Test will be proctored by ARRL VE’s.
Activities start at 8:30 am on Saturday morning and conclude by 4:30 pm CST.
