Backpacking Merit Badge
September 19th - 21st, 2025
Zink High Adventure Base
Cost: Scouts and Adults - $40.00 per person
Limited to first 40 participants (Scouts, Scouters, Venturers) to register.
For Scouts wanting to develop their backpacking and hiking skills—from first-timers to experienced backpackers.
Additionally, you will gain most of the Hiking/Backpacking Merit Badges. NOTE: Will not complete both merit badges in one weekend—additional hikes will be needed. Pre-requisites will be required.
All food provided. Stoves, Fuel, and Cooking gear provided.
Must be at least 13 years of age and 2nd Class rank or above (Need instructor approval for exceptions).
Must be able to carry backpack (with padded hip belt) that has personal and crew gear entire time.
Completed BSA Health and Medical Form with parts A & B turned in at check-in.
Course will run from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Participants need to be present for the entire time.
Adult leadership provided. Adults wishing to participate may do so at the same cost.
We will offer two treks--Introduction and Advanced:
Introduction is for first-time or novice participants and will focus on basic skills and a shorter trek (10 miles over 2 days) and learn how to backpack.
Advanced is for experienced backpackers who want hone their skills and seek a longer (15+ miles over 2 days) and more challenging trek.
