Backpacking Shakedown Weekend
April 10th - 12th, 2026
Zink High Adventure Base
Cost: Scouts and Adults - $40.00 per person
Limited to first 40 participants (Scouts, Scouters, Venturers) to register.
For Scouts wanting to test their backpacking skills. Experienced backpackers recommended.
This event is intended for units planning to attend a high adventure trekking program. No merit badge material or requirements will be covered. This is purely a shakedown for your high adventure treks, such as Philmont or ZBASE.
Individuals, small groups, and beginners should look to our Backpacking Merit Badge Course in the fall.
All food provided. Stoves, Fuel, and Cooking gear provided.
Must be at least 13 years of age and 2nd Class rank or above (Need instructor approval for exceptions)
Must be able to carry backpack (with padded hip belt) that has personal and crew gear entire time.
Completed BSA Health and Medical Form with parts A & B turned in at check-in.
Course will run from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. Participants need to be present for the entire time.
Adult leadership is NOT provided. Adults wishing to participate may do so at the same cost.
