Sailing is one of the most enjoyable pastimes on the open water. The quiet and peacefulness of the water can provide a pleasant break from everyday life. However, smooth sailing requires paying careful attention to safety.

Scouting is partnering with Sea Scout Ship 131 and Riversport in Oklahoma City for this exciting opportunity, which will include hands-on SAILING!  Scouts will be required to bring $30 for this event; lunch will be provided,  All safety gear will be provided, and sailboats.  Scouts may bring their own safety gear, ensure it is labeled, and is subject to inspection and acceptance by the Merit Badge counselor.  All Scouts will be required to have their parents sign a liability release to particippate.  Scouts will need to bring their BSA Medical Forms Parts A and B, and each participant must be classified as a swimmer and provide a statement to that effect.

Scouts are encouraged to read the Merit Badge pamphlet to prepare, and to print and start filling out the Merit Badge workbook.  Both are attached.
