Surveying Merit Badge (Scissortail Series)

As you walk through town, drive along the Interstate, or hike through the mountains, every square foot you are on as already been visited by surveyors. While earning this merit badge, Scouts will discover how land is measured and how it is described so that others can know where boundary lines are. They will have a chance to use some fine measuring instruments, apply advanced mathematics, operate computing equipment, and create a survey map.
Join us at the Council office to earn this exciting Merit Badge. The Merit Badge will be taught by professional land surveyors. The second session will include a field trip to perform a land survey. Both sessions are required to earn the Merit Badge.
When considering this opportunity, Scout families should be aware that this Merit Badge is best suited to Scouts with a solid background in angles and measurement. Scouts are strongly encouraged to read the Merit Badge pamphlet to prepare, and to print and start filling out the Merit Badge workbook. Both are attached.
