2022 Cub Scout Shoot-O-Ree

Event Details

2022 Fall Cub Scout Shoot-O-Ree

Shoot-O-Ree is a special event for Cub Scouts 1st thru 5th grade, to earn their Shooting Sports Awards (both patch and pins). We will offer BB, Archery and Sling Shot programs. This event provides an opportunity for the Cubs to earn all three shooting sports awards in one place, have some fun and be challenged in our shooting competition.

The grand prize this year will be a custom engraved Daisy BB gun, so you don’t want to miss out!

  • A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday.  If you are camping please make arrangements for all other meals.
  • Overnight camping is available for both Friday and Saturday nights but no program or food service will be available.
  • All participants will need a water container.  Water will be provided, but no personal containers will be available.
  • No personal shooting equipment is allowed.
  • Though not required, we would encourage the Scouts to wear their Field (“class A”) uniform shirt and Neckerchief.
  • Hat, sunscreen, bug spray, and rain gear are advisable, we shoot, rain or shine
  • A parent/guardian or unit leader must accompany scouts during the Shoot-O-Ree, no “drop offs”.
  • Adults may want to bring some sort of camp chair
  • If a safety violation due to horseplay is made, the scout may be asked to leave the premises, without refund or sign off of the award(s).

What to expect this year:

Check-In will begin at 8:30AM in front of the Admin office. The event will start at 9:00AM at the picnic tables in front of the Dining Hall. We will hold the safety briefing and "book work" with all participants at this time.  The safety briefing is also where all of our shooters will receive their wrist bands (required).  Those without wrist bands will not be allowed to shoot. The safety briefing program will cover BB, Archery and Wrist Rocket.  This will likely take one (1) hour to complete.  We will do our best to make this time fun and informative.  At the briefing the shooters will be given a score sheet - this will need to accompany the Scout throughout the course. It would be advisable for the parent to keep up with the score sheet.  When we break from the safety briefing, the ranges will be opened.  Each discipline has a level one and level two component for a total of six (for all the disciplines).  You may stop for lunch anytime between 11:00 & 1:00.  When a level is completed, the score sheet will be "stamped" by the Rangemaster and the shooter can move to the next level or discipline. When the shooter receives all 6 stamps and their scores are recorded you are free to check out of the event or just hang around and have some fun.  The score sheet must be turned into the checkout station where the shooter will receive their award insignia and devices.

Each person will need to bring with them: a water container, Health Form Part A&B, Event Permission Form, Photo Release Form, and a Shooting Sports Permission Form. These forms are available through the signup link.
