Spring Camporee 2022 at Blennerhassett Island

When: April 22-24, 2022
Where: Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park, Parkersburg, WV;
After registration, units will be assigned a location to park in Belpre, OH and the unit members will ride the Sternwheeler down the river to the Island.
Special Packing and Gear Considerations:
Due to the fact that the ONLY means of accessing the Island is by Sternwheeler across the river, ALL participants will be required to carry all needed camping and cooking gear in a pack or cart. A Gear List will be provided after each Unit registers.
Camping
The Camporee will be divided into Cohorts for Camping and Meal Preparation. Water will be available on the Island and Units should plan to cook backpack style breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday with their Unit/Cohort. Firewood and a campfire area will be provided for each Cohort.
Food / Meals
Friday – There will be no food offered on the Island; Please eat dinner before you board the Sternwheeler.
Saturday Breakfast – Units will supply and cook a backpack-style breakfast.
Saturday Lunch – The Camporee will provide lunch. Units may bring non-refrigerated snacks/trail food for touring the Island and for Saturday activities.
Saturday Dinner - The Camporee will provide dinner. Units may bring non-refrigerated snacks/trail food for touring the Island and for Saturday activities.
Sunday Breakfast – Units will supply and cook a backpack style breakfast.
Preliminary Schedule:
Friday: Units will arrive at their designated parking area on Friday at their designated times to ride the Sternwheel River Boat across and down the Ohio River to the Island.
Saturday: Breakfast by Units with their Cohorts
Flag Raising at 8:30 am
Activities begin at 9:00 am – The Camporee Group will be divided into three groups
Group One – Depart by Sternwheel River Boat to Parkersburg for Museum Tour
Group Two – Guided Historical Tour of the Blennerhasset Mansion and Plantation
Group Three – Horse Drawn Wagon Ride around the Island and Nature Study Tour
Lunch & Dinner will be Provided by Camporee
Sunday: Breakfast by Units at their Sites
Clean-up and Depart
Cost: $40 per Participant
Registration: Due to the complexity of scheduling the River Boat Trips and Food Service,
Registration will CLOSE on Friday, April 1, 2022.
Any Medical or Dietary Restrictions must be disclosed at time of Registration.
A needed Gear/Packing List will be provided after Registration.
