Cub Scout Rangemaster Training

Range and Target Activities are consistently the top-rated activities for our Cub Scouts and their families. Helping them develop these skills is a gratifying experience for everyone involved. This training will teach you how to run Cub Scout BB Gun and Archery Ranges at Council and District events safely and effectively.

Saturday, February 22, 9am-1pm, Arlington Heights Center for Scouting, Arlington Heights, IL
Saturday, March 15, 9am-1pm, Robert J. Welsh Center for Scouting, Munster, IN
Saturday, April 5, 10am-2pm, Maywood Sportsmen's Club, Elmhurst, IL**
**The April 5th event will happen in conjunction with a Cub Scout Shoot-o-Ree event; rangemaster training participants will receive a practical application of skills learned.
WHO
BSA Adult Leaders with Range and Target Activity experience OR willingness to learn about facilitating a Cub Scout Shooting sports activity
WHAT
A training to learn the BSA policies regarding operating Cub Scout BB gun and Archery Ranges.
COST
FREE (volunteers will dedicate time and resources to provide this training, please register only if you are 100% committed to attending)
This is a required training for anyone who will be volunteering as a Rangemaster. The Cub Scout Rangemaster Certification is valid for two years, and participants will be asked to sign a commitment form to assist with District or Council events during the time the certification is valid. These events include: District/Council Day Camps, Family Camps, and other District/Council-sponsored Cub Scout Range and Target Activities.
Archery and BB gun shooting are restricted to District Day Camps, Cub Scout/Webelos Scout Resident Camps, Council-Managed Family Camping Programs, or to Council activities where there are properly trained supervisors and all standards for BSA shooting sports are enforced. Archery and BB gun shooting are not allowed to be delivered at the pack level.
