The merit badge will be held in two sessions. You only need to choose one session.
Pre-requisites:
1b, 2a, and 5
1. Do the following:
(b) Select a historical architectural achievement that has had a major impact on society. Using resources such as the Internet (with your parent or guardian's permission), books, and magazines, find out how this achievement has influenced the world today. Tell your counselor what you learned.
2. In the Outdoor Code, a Scout pledges to "be conservation-minded." Discuss the following with your counselor:
(a) The term sustainable architecture. Identify three features typical of green buildings.
5. Find out about three career opportunities in architecture. Pick one and find out the education, training, and experience required for this profession. Discuss this with your counselor, and explain why this profession might interest you.

Workshop Details
Part 1: Chicago: City of Architecture
City of Architecture is a 90-minute walking tour that explores Chicago history through the lens of the city's architecture. It includes visits to iconic structures that showcase why Chicago is the city of architectural innovation. This will cover 1a, 2bcd.
Part 2: Indoor Workshop
After the walking tour, Scouts and Counselors will return to the center and use this time to complete 3a and 4.
Each session will have a 30 minute break. Please bring a lunch or a snack with you. Remember to bring a water bottle. Be prepared to walk downtown (keep in mind the weather since you will be outside) and please dress in your Class A /Field Uniform.
Parking:
24/7 parking garage at 111 East Wacker Drive. Participants receive discount parking at this garage for up to 4 hours. Validate parking at CAC. You can also find parking in advance through SpotHero, visit the Chicago Architecture Center SpotHero Parking Page.
