Scouts BSA Adventure Day

Where: Red Gate Woods and the Palos Forest Preserve, 10201 Archer Ave., Lemont, IL 

When: Satruday, April 15, 2023, 8am-2:30pm

Cost: $10/Scout

After the Historic 1 hour hike, Scout Patrols can choose from 1 of 3 adventure options below:

• Take a 5 mile hike on the trails of the Palos Forest Preserve - Patrols need 2 adult leaders, no limits on number of scouts in a patrol.
• Ride Mountain Bikes on the trails of the Palos Forest Preserve led by volunteers from the Chicago Area Mountain Bike Riders (CAMBR) - Each Patrol riding group needs two adult leaders with a maximum of 6 Scout riders in a patrol.
• Ride a 15 mile paved trail ride on the Cal Sag Trail from the trail head Rt. 83 and IL-171 to Palos Park and back - Each patrol riding group needs two adult leaders with vehicles to transport bikes and scouts from Red Gate Woods to the trail head with a maximum of 8 Scout riders in a patrol.
  • All Scouts and leaders participating in the CAMBR mountain bike ride or working on the trail erosion service project will be required to complete the attached waiver.

All Scouts will be asked to participate in a 2 hour conservation service project (12:30-2:30) led by CAMBR to prevent trail erosion

Scouts bring: Trail lunch, water, bug spray, sun screen and work gloves for service project.  Wear clothes and shoes appropriate for hiking/biking.  If Biking, must bring own Bike and Helmet.
