You can get trained to run Cub Scout BB Gun and Archery Ranges at Council and District events. Shooting Sports are a major highlight in a Cub Scout's life and helping them learn a new skill is very gratifying. We hope you will consider getting trained so you can run ranges safely and effectively.
WHEN: Saturday, April 24, 2021 Check in at 8:00am; Finish around 2:00pm
WHO: BSA Adult Leaders with Shooting Sports experience
WHAT: A training to learn the BSA policies regarding operating Cub Scout BB gun and Archery Ranges.
WHERE: Izaak Walton League, 1100 Ridge Rd, Homewood, IL 60430
COST: $10.00
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Participants should bring a sack lunch. Masks are required.
This is a required training for anyone who will be volunteering as a Rangemaster. The Cub Scout Shooting Certification is valid for two years, and participants will be asked to sign a commitment form to assist with two District or Council events during the time the certification is valid. These events include: District Day Camps; and/or Council/District sponsored Cub Scout Shooting Sports Activities.
Archery and BB gun shooting are restricted to District Day Camps, Cub Scout/Webelos Scout Resident Camps, Council-Managed Family Camping Programs, or to Council activities where there are properly trained supervisors and all standards for BSA shooting sports are enforced. Archery and BB gun shooting are not to be done at the pack level. Archery and BB gun shooting patches and sports pins may only be earned at the camps and activities listed above. These programs are designed to emphasize safety and marksmanship development under the direction of trained range personal using nationally approved instructional method.
