NRA Certification Classes
NRA BASIC RIFLE AND SHOTGUN CERTIFICATION TRAININGS
Please note: Due to COVID restrictions, please bring a mask and lunch for yourself.
Basic Rifle Certification
- Saturday March 6th (8am-5pm) - Classroom - Welsh Center for Scouting, 8751 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN
- Sunday March 7th (10am-4pm) - Range - Camp Betz, 3858 E. Snow Rd, Berrien Springs, MI
Basic Shotgun Certification
- Saturday March 13th (8am-5pm) - Classroom - Welsh Center for Scouting, 8751 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN
- Sunday March 14th (10am-4pm) - Range - Camp Betz, 3858 E. Snow Rd, Berrien Springs, MI
Class size: Minimum 10 people – Maximum 20 people.
Minimum Age: 21 years old
BSA is following all COVID protocols, so please Be Prepared and wear a mask! You will not be admitted into the class without a mask.
Course fee: $75.00 per person (Normally this course costs $150.00 and up! – Take advantage of the BSA savings for Scouters!)
Rifle Course Description:
This course includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing, and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate. Students will utilize the instructor’s firearms and ammunition.
Please note – To be an NRA Certified Rifle Instructor which will allow you to run a BSA range, you must complete both of the following NRA courses:
- NRA Basic Rifle Certification (This course)
- NRA Rifle Instructor Training
Shotgun Course Description:
This course includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate. Students will utilize the instructor’s firearms and ammunition.
Please note – To be an NRA Certified Shotgun Instructor, which will allow you to run a BSA range, you must complete both of the following NRA courses:
