Adventure Day VI - Return to Mount Forest Island

Event Details

Adventure Day VI
Return to Mount Forest Island

Come discover and explore Ancient Mt. Forest Island, the central feature of the 20,000+ acre Palos Preserves, one of the most significant geological features in the Chicagoland area, and the largest jewel in the world famous green crown of our Cook County Forest Preserves.

Hike on trails used for hundreds, perhaps thousands of years, by Native American tribes who lived in and passed thru these forests, later by the early explorers of North America, and then a century ago on by visionary leaders who sought to preserve the wonders of the wild areas surrounding Chicago for generations to come.

On the trail, observe the critters and diverse plant communities native to the area, see how local conservation organizations are working to restore and maintain those ecosystems, and learn how we can help in those efforts.

At the end of the hike, we will stop for lunch and an informational midway at the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center and participate in a service project.

Who: Webelos, Boy Scouts, & Venturers (Webelos Scouts must be accompanied by an adult)
Price: $5 per scout or adult. Includes event patch

Early registration closes Friday April 12, but registrations will be allowed at the event.
