Camp site set up
Bear bags and bear encounter prevention
Water purification

Back packs and personal gear
Friday evening arrival is preferred, otherwise Saturday arrival time at Moehling shelter is by 7:30am. The core training runs until about 4pm on Saturday. Camping Saturday night is encouraged as on Sunday morning, there will be a ten mile hike.
Crews will be assigned their own camp site. Each morning, camp is to be struck and packed into Philmont type back packs, as participants will be hiking with their gear from session to session on Saturday.
Each non Council contingent crew is to provide their own backpacking meals to cover: Saturday breakfast, Saturday lunch, Saturday "cooked" dinner, Sunday breakfast, and Sunday snack if doing the ten mile hike. Actual Philmont meals can be purchased HERE
Each participant should come packed for Philmont. Backpacks should weigh in at approximately 40 pounds when loaded with personal & crew gear, food and water.
