SCOUTS NEED TO KNOW:

No prerequisites! Each group will have a 30-minute break.  Please bring a lunch/snack and a water bottle.  Be prepared to walk downtown, be mindful of the weather (tour happens rain or shine!), and please dress in your Class A /Field Uniform.

Group 1 Schedule 

  • 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM Check In
  • 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM - Walking Tour
  • 11:30 AM - 11:55 AM - Break 
  • 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM - Workshop

Group 2 Schedule:

  • 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM Check In
  • 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM - Workshop
  • 11:30 AM - 11:55 AM - Break 
  • 12:00 PM - 1:30 PM - Walking Tour


PARENTS & LEADERS NEED TO KNOW: 

**Due to capacity limits, adults may not accompany Scouts during the workshop. Only pre-registered Walking Tour Chaperones may participate in the walking tour. Adults do not need to remain onsite during the workshop.

Parents and Leaders have three options:

  1. Drop-Off & Pick-Up – Scouts may be dropped off for the duration of the workshop and picked up at the conclusion of the event. Adults do not need to remain onsite during the workshop.
     
  2. Adult Admission – Free. Includes access to the Chicago Architecture Center, open studio time in the Design Studio, and the Design Store. You must check in at the Center's box office and give them code Scout26. Adults may not participate in either the walking tour or the indoor workshop.
     
  3. Walking Tour Chaperone - SYT Registered Leaders Only:  
    • The walking tour is divided into three groups of 10 Scouts and requires two registered leaders per group. Chaperones must be currently registered with Scouting America and have current Safeguarding Youth Training.
    • During the indoor portion, chaperones may access the Center and Design Studio while Scouts complete the workshop.
    • Chaperones may not participate in the indoor workshop. 


Parking:

  • The closest parking garage is located at 111 East Wacker Drive. You can receive validation for a discounted parking sticker at the Center box office. The parking garage is open 24/7.
  • Several other public parking garages are available in the River North and Loop neighborhoods. Public Transit:

  1. CTA L train stations (walking distance from the following)
    • Lake for the Red Line
    • Washington for the Blue Line
  2. CTA bus lines
    • Take any CTA bus that travels downtown and intersects with E. South Water. See CTA website for routes and schedules at www.transitchicago.com.
  3. Commuter train
    • Metra operates 11 suburban commuter lines serving downtown Chicago. For Metra schedule information, visit www.metrarail.com.
