Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster/Troop Committee Position Training

Event Details

Scoutmaster/ASM and Troop Committee Training

The purpose of this hybrid course is to provide new and existing leaders with the tools to effectively provide leadership in a Scouts BSA Troop. Whether you are a Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Committee Member or Committee Chair this course will help you better understand the Scouting program, your role in the unit and how to better serve our youth members.

We have a diverse group of instructors who are familiar with boy troops, girl troops and family troops to answer your questions and provide valuable insights into the Scouts BSA program.

This instructor-led training is being offered on Saturday, November 14, from 9 am until 4 pm at Purdue University Northwest, 2200 169th St, Hammond, IN 46323.

There is no fee for the course, but coffee and snacks will be available using a “kitty’ to pay for them.  Bring a “brown bag” lunch.  Course specified handouts will be provided and a USB drive with extra Scouting America materials may be downloaded for free to your laptop or purchased at our $3 cost for the USB drive.

All participants will be given credit for Scoutmaster/Asst Scoutmaster Leader Specific training and Troop Committee Leader Specific Training.  Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmaster will also require additional training in Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) and Hazardous Weather to be considered fully trained.
