Pathway to Adventure Council Announces:

2027 PTAC Contingent to
Philmont Scout Ranch

PTAC is now accepting registrations for the 14 day Council Contingent to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Philmont, known as Scouting Heaven, is 137,000 acres – 214 square miles of rugged backcountry in the Sangre de Christo Mountains. Participants will spend 11 days backpacking, enjoying the beautiful scenery and experiencing the exciting programs offered along the way.

Participants MUST BE at least 14 years old OR have completed 8th Grade and be at least 13 by July 3, 2027. Twenty-four spaces are available to individuals, Troops, Crews, including Co-ed crews. Partial units & solo Scouts are encouraged to sign up. Adult positions are also available. Note: Registration closes March 20, 2026. All applications are subject to PTAC High Adventure Committee approval.

Depart Philmont & return to Chicago, Saturday, July 17, 2027

Trip cost is $2850 per person (price subject to adjustment pending travel costs)

The Council Contingent Program includes the Philmont Fee, transportation, two 10 mile hikes, a February trail cooking class, spring Training Weekend, Trail Tee shirts, Philmont Belt & Buckle, and more.

$375 due with registration.

May 3rd, 2027, $545 (estimated, pending actual travel costs)

Due to Limited Space in the contingent, excess registrations will be placed on a waitlist.

Camperships to cover a portion of the trip cost are available
