Winter Klondike Patrol Competitions & Iditarod Sled Race

Games and skill events emphasizing Scout through 1st Class skills.

A Klondike derby is the annual Portage Creek District hosted event held in January based on the heritage of the Klondike Gold Rush.

The derby consists of several stations where patrols/units must test their Scoutcraft skills and their leadership abilities, earning points towards a total score. The patrol must transport their gear on a homemade sled pulled by the Scouts. The Patrol that earns the most points in the scout skills competition will take home the Klondike Derby Traveling Trophy (pictured) to display in you meeting place over the next year.

The Portage Creek District has specific guidelines for the construction of sleds

The Derby is open to all Scouts BSA Patrols from Pathway to Adventure Council.

Registration Closes:  01-22-2026 5:00 PM
