First Aid Certification Class

 

We have limited capacity and we expect many leaders to need certification to attend the 2026 National Jamboree and other events. As such, everybody will be placed on a waitlist, and we will admit according to need. Please use the "Comments" field in your registration to indicate which event(s) you will need Wilderness First Aid certification for.

 

Course Length: 16 hours - attendance and participation for the full schedule is required to receive certification.  This class meets the requirements established by Scouting America for participating in high adventure.

6:00 PM -10:00 PM Friday and 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Saturday

2026 dates are subject to a change in location. Unless otherwise noted, classes will be at the Pleasantview Fire Protection District.

January 16 - 17, 2026

February 20 - 21, 2026

March 20 - 21, 2026

April 17 - 18, 2026

May 15 - 16, 2026

 

Length of Certification: 2 years

Who can attend:  Any registered youth or adult Scout age 14 or older.

Pre-requisites:  Adult CPR/AED card from any agency that was issued within 12 months of class is required.  A copy of your certification will need to be emailed to the instructor prior to class.  If you need Adult CPR/AED contact Cathy Prosser, prosserc@aol.com, to arrange for a blended learning class with the in-person portion to be completed during the WFA class.  Additional cost of $22.00, cash at class.  On line pre-work is required, about 2.5 hours. 

Cost:  $70.00 for in-council attendees; $80.00 for out-of-council attendees – Includes Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid Manual and Pocket Guide.

 

Meal plan (Food NOT provided): 

Friday:  Eat dinner before you come or bring a sack dinner.  Water bottle.

Saturday:  Eat breakfast before you arrive.  Bring lunch, dinner and snacks that do not require refrigeration or heating.  Water bottle.  Pack food that can be eaten as class continues.  We will not take any formal breaks and will not be leaving campus.   

 

What to wear/materials:  Wear clothing suitable to spend time outside intermittently on Saturday, check the weather before you come.  No special materials needed for class, instructors will provide what is needed.
