Aquatics Merit Badges: Swimming & Lifesaving

Earn your Swimming or Lifesaving Merit Badge through this two-part program hosted in partnership with the Kleptz YMCA. Scouts will participate in a required Zoom session and an in-person pool session to complete water-based requirements under the guidance of certified instructors.

Required Zoom Meetings — Thursday, November 6:

• Swimming Merit Badge: 6:00–7:00 PM
• Lifesaving Merit Badge: 7:30–9:00 PM

Required Pool Sessions — Sunday, November 9 at Kleptz YMCA

• Swimming Merit Badge: 8:00–10:00 AM
• Lifesaving Merit Badge: 10:00 AM–1:00 PM

Cost:

• Free for YMCA Members
• $5 for Non-Members — Please bring cash to the instructor on the day of the pool session.
  • Non-Members must also bring a signed YMCA waiver form.

What to Bring:

• Pre-requirements (as assigned during the Zoom session)
• Signed YMCA waiver (non-members only)
• $5 cash (non-members only)
• Towel, swimsuit, and water bottle
• Proof of completed swim test (required for all Scouts)
• Proof of completed Swimming Merit Badge (required for Lifesaving participants)

Important Notes:

• Open to Scouts BSA youth only - parents may attend as spectators
• Class size limited to 20 Scouts per session — register early to secure your spot!
• Attendance at both the Zoom meeting and the pool session is required for completion.
