Leave No Trace Trainer Course
Simon Kenton Council - Outdoor Ethics
The Simon Kenton Council, BSA, and the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics invite you to become a Leave No Trace Trainer!
This course is for all Scouters and Scouts 14 years old or older. Upon successful completion of the Leave No Trace Trainer Course, each participant will become a qualified Leave No Trace Trainer.
Those who complete the course are equipped to:
• Understand, demonstrate, and teach minimum impact techniques
• Lead outdoor ethics discussions and help others explore their own personal outdoor ethic
• Conduct Leave No Trace Awareness Workshops
What to Bring: water bottle, mug for hot drinks, mess kit, notebook/pen, camping gear (tent, sleeping bag and pad), and clothing appropriate for the weather including rain gear (most of the group presentations will be conducted outdoors). Everyone will need to prepare a 10-15 minute presentation on 1 of the 7 Leave No Trace principles and present it during the weekend (the topic for presentation will be assigned after registration). Bring supplies you need for your presentation.
Do to the COVID 19 concerns, there will be some modifications to the group sizes and any large group interaction. We will split into two smaller groups for instruction and participant presentations, to limit group size. Also, participants will be required to bring their own food for Saturday breakfast and lunch. The course will be shortened, to Friday and Saturday only, ending with graduation on Saturday at 6:30pm.
