Golf Merit Badge – goes rain or shine

     6100 Dublin Park Dr, Dublin, OH 43016

Check-In Instructions: Arrive 12:30 pm.  Buy small bucket of balls ($10) and pay for 18 holes golf ($16).  Directions will be provided on where to meet on the driving range.

Bring: Blue card, water bottle, money to pay for driving range bucket of balls and 18 holes round of golf, golf clubs, golf tees, rain jacket/pants/umbrella

What will be doing: Driving Range - practice on driving range and discussion of history, rules, etiquette, terms, careers followed by 18 hole scramble golf on the par 3 course

Q&A:

I don’t have clubs.  Can I participate?  Yes.  The course has club rentals available for $10.

How much money should I bring? Bucket of golf balls:  $10, Round of golf:  $16, Club rental:  $10

Misc:  golf balls, golf tees, beverage/snack

Is lunch provided?  No please eat before arriving. You can bring snacks. 

Are beverages available for purchase?  Yes.  Recommend bring your water bottle.

When will the outing end?  We will be on the driving range/classroom from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.  We will be going off the first tee thereafter and plan 3 hours for the golf +/-

Isn’t this course a par 3 layout?  Yes.  We will play the same 9 holes twice, back to back. 

Will the outing occur if it is raining?  Yes.  Driving range/classroom will be under cover while the golf will be in the rain. 

What if the weather looks bad for the day, will it still be held?  It depends on the severity of the weather.  Call the merit badge counselor at 614-749-3777 on the day of the event to confirm the outing.

When should I be picked up?  Bring a cell phone if you need to coordinate a ride.   The merit badge counselor will have a cell phone available for use.  Plan for event to go from 1 – 5 pm.

Do I have to review the merit badge requirements before the outing?  No but you should.   

Who will I play with?  Other Scouts, the merit badge counselor (will roam amongst the groups), and any parents that want to play.

Can members of my family play with me?  Maybe, we can try to make it work case by case.  Call the merit badge counselor to coordinate it.

Do I have to play the 18 holes of golf to get the merit badge?  In lieu of playing 18 holes of golf at the outing, you could play 9 holes twice or a round of 18 holes with another golfer about your age and with an adult approved by the merit badge counselor.  Call the merit badge counselor as needed for guidance/coordination?   

Do I need to be good or have played before to participate and earn the merit badge?  No.

Will I leave with a signed blue card?  If you bring one, yes.  Otherwise, you’ll need to coordinate with the merit badge counselor

If the event is cancelled due to weather, will it be re-scheduled?  Yes and will coordinate with the participants on the date for this Fall or next Spring
