2025 Firelands Staff Reunion

Welcome to the 2025 Firelands Camp Staff Reunion! We are happy to have you back at camp.
This year’s 2025 Staff Reunion marks the 7th gathering since its inception 30 years ago. We are thrilled to announce that it will once again be held at Firelands Scout Reservation on Saturday, July 5th. We extend our gratitude to the Lake Erie Council for their continued support and assistance with logistics. Although we had to cancel the event in 2020 due to COVID, we are excited to bring it back this year!
As many of you know, the Heart of Ohio Council, formed in 1994, dissolved in 2016. The Harding Area and Johnny Appleseed Trail Districts joined the Buckeye Council, while the Firelands and Great Frontier Districts merged with the Greater Cleveland Council to form the Lake Erie Council. Another recent change is that Boy Scouts of America, now called Scouting America, began allowing girls under 18 to join, enabling them to earn the Eagle Scout rank.
Even though LEC Council Summer Camp is held at our sister camp, Beaumont Scout Reservation, FSR still remains an active Scout camp hosting year-round weekend camping and events in addition to S’more Cub Adventures weekends. This year FSR also has the honor of hosting Wood Badge and NYLT. In 2009, after the closure of Camp Avery Hand, the HOOC Board renamed the Gore Orphanage side “Camp Avery Hand” and the Bates Road side “Camp Wyandot” in honor of our former camps.
Unlike our last reunion in 2015, there will not be any Scouts at camp during this weekend, and because of this, no breakfast or lunches will be provided. What will remain the same is that we will allow camping Friday and Saturday nights; have open program areas including Swimming, Boating, Rifle, Archery, and COPE; and conclude with a catered dinner and closing campfire. And of course, the Firelands Scout Shop and Camp Wyandot Trading Post will be open for you to purchase camp memorabilia!

Become a Camp Steward
Formed in 1992 and led by Fred Downey of Norwalk, this group raises thousands of dollars each year for improvements to Firelands Reservation. Membership costs $100 per year (a portion tax deductible) and includes a patch and steak dinner where the members will vote on which projects to allocate money to from a “wish list”. This year’s dinner will be held on Monday May 12th at 6pm. Registration is available on the council’s website.
To show our support to our camp and council we have committed to raising $700 to help fund the replacing half of the boards at the Wyandot Chapel. Your optional donation can be paid during registration or at the reunion.
Join Camp Host
If you love Firelands, and are looking for a way to do more, why not join as a Camp Host? Camp Hosts (previously called Campmasters) serve our camps one weekend at a time. They help our rangers, provide service to units as commissioners, promote camp activities, give our guests great customer service, provide programming, even help teach something during the weekend—all while enjoying quality time camping.
Camp Host teams are made up of a small group of Scouters. Some teams have set weekends, others only Camp Host once in a while, or fill in as needed. You can serve as a Camp Host at Firelands or Beaumont or both camps. The biggest duties are to be there Friday to help units check in, and on Sunday to help units check out. The majority of the weekend is spent with your crew in one of our special Camp Host Cabins.
To be eligible you must be at least 21 years old, a registered Scouter with up-to-date Youth Protection Training, and complete a Camp Host training course.
