Automotive Maintenance Merit Badge

Dates: May 7 and 14 (both Saturdays required)

Time: 8am - Noon 

What makes cars work?

How do I recognize the early warning signs of trouble to avoid expensive repairs?

How do I make sure they are maintained properly?

Join an ASE certified Master Automobile Technician instructor from Tri-C's Automotive Technology program to work towards the Automotive Maintenance Merit Badge over two Saturdays! Sessions will be a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on experiences inside the Advanced Automotive Technology Center (AATC) labs.

Scouts will have the opportunity to...

1. Cover material necessary to complete the Automotive Maintenance Merit Badge
2. Learn valuable skills that will protect your vehicles and minimize expensive repairs
3. Discover new career pathways through Cuyahoga Community College.
4. Lake Erie Council will provide Merit Badge Counselor contact information for Scouts to complete the badge after the sessions are complete.

Notes:

• Masks are required in all Tri-C facilities due to COVID-19. Please bring and wear one.
• Open-toed shoes such as flip-flops as not permitted in the AATC labs.
• Please bring a pair of safety glasses. We will bring some extras in case you do not have a pair or forget to bring them.
• No meals are provided as part of this program. Vending machines are available to purchase snacks, or you may bring your own. Refrigerator space is available if needed.

One of the most exciting parts about being a Scout is finding new adventures. Whether you travel far or explore your local area, opportunities abound to grow in knowledge and encounter new people, places, and ideas. In 2022, Lake Erie Council is proud to introduce the Explore Cleveland series as part of its Merit Badge University offerings. Through these programs, Scouts will have the opportunity to earn a variety of merit badges while exploring institutions, museums, and businesses in the Cleveland area.
