Klondike Derby & Webelos Winter Challenge: Winter Woods! - Stigwandish

Event Details

Klondike Derby & Webelos Winter Challenge: Winter Woods!

January 25-27, 2019
Camp Stigwandish

Klondike Derby is a fun-filled winter activity patterned after the Gold Rush Days in the Yukon. Patrols build sledges like the early prospectors used as they hunted for gold. The members of your patrol will serve as the team of huskies to pull your patrol’s sledge around our course. Your patrol will visit a number of stations, where your patrol will be confronted with a problem requiring a Scout skill to solve. Depending on how well your patrol works out the problem, you will receive a number of points.

Troops and Webelos are invited to the Klondike taking place January 25, 26 and 27 has stations that are primarily youth run with a few exceptions!

We will be offering black powder shooting, atlatl throwing, tomahawk throwing, pioneering, two-man saw, wood branding, sling shot for Webelos, a scavenger hunt and more, where the Troops earn coins and can bid in the auction on Saturday night after dinner. Not to mention the sled race that will take place after the skills stations are done.

Lunch time showcases your Troop or Webelos cooking skills with food that you bring and compete in the Jimmie O'Dell Gold Griddle for Troops and the Bronze Bowl for the Webelos. Those rules are in the leader guide (coming out shortly).
