High Adventure for Priests

Must be age 16 by June 16.

As a Priest (16-18 years old), you are now ready to plan, prepare and lead high adventures. The purpose of these adventures is to:

  • Build bonds and strengthen relationships with your father/mentor and other young men your age
  • Become better connected with heaven
  • Plan, prepare, and lead high adventures of your own interest

You and your father/mentor submit trip plans a year in advance that are of your own interest! The 2018 trip is:

Dolly Sods Monongahela National Forest Backpacking Adventure

Start at Beaumont Scout Reservation on Monday morning. 20-mile backpacking trip. Finish on Friday at Beaumont.

High Adventure Training for Teachers

Welcome to High Adventure Training (HAT)! Over the course of your time in HAT as a Teacher you will:

  • Build bonds and strengthen relationships with your father/mentor and other young men your age
  • Become better connected with heaven
  • Learn how to plan, prepare, and lead high adventures

HAT is made just for YOU! Whether you are 14 or 15 years old you are going to have a great APE experience doing one of the following experiences:

14 year olds: High Adventure Training Level 1 (HAT - 1)

You have just completed a couple of years at scout camp or maybe you have never been. During this action-packed leadership training week you will learn, develop, and gain high adventure knowledge, skills, and abilities that will have you ready for your expeditions when you become a priest, missionary, and future father. You will gain leadership skills that you can use during camp and in your everyday life.

Schedule of Events

  • M-W scout camp
  • W-F High Adventure Training level 1

15 year olds: High Adventure Training Level 2 (HAT-2)

Last year you completed HAT 1 and are ready to implement those skills by developing an action packed high adventure expedition out at Camp Stigwandish for those who are currently taking HAT-1.  Working with your Young Men’s leadership and Beaumont Scout Reservation Staff, you will be further trained on how to:

  • Build bonds, strengthen relationships with your father/mentor and young men your age
  • Be connected with heaven
  • Plan, prepare, and lead high adventures

Schedule of Events

  • M-W HAT 2 training
  • W-F Lead expedition

We will be implementing everything you learned during your scouting experience and your training in HAT 1 & HAT 2 as a teacher. As a reminder, every person must be responsible, willing, and able to commit to the adventure’s success. This includes fulfilling any assignments such as setup and take down of camp, cook meals (mostly reheating), prepare latrines, and follow all instructions of adult and youth leaders. Because of HAT, everyone on the trip is a leader.
