What: Metalwork Merit Badge
This program is funded by METAL, a division of the Department of War, of the United States Government.
Kent State University is one of 25 colleges and universities in the United States to be accredited by the American Foundry Society.
This event is limited to 24 Scouts
All Forms must be filled out prior to the event for both Scouts and Adults attending.
*Dress-Code - Required for All Attendees: THIS IS A MUST
- Full leather footwear, such as leather hiking boots (no sneakers or open-toed shoes)
- Full-length jeans (no shorts or skirts)
- No synthetic fiber clothing, cotton or wool clothing only!
- Any long hair should be pulled back for the event
- No jewelry
*Unfortunately, melting will be done in an induction furnace, so attendees with a Pacemaker cannot participate/view the activities in the labs.
*Attendees should read the Metalwork Merit Badge handbook before the event, with special emphasis placed on pages 9-30 and the founder’s section in the most recent Metalwork Merit Badge handbook.
*Parking is in lot C, Math and Science. Please check in at least 15 minutes before the event's starting time.
*Pizza, salad, and pop will be provided for lunch. Attendees with allergies are requested to bring their lunch.
