2025 Wilderness Winter Camp

Event Details

Winter Camp begins January 3th, 2025 and runs every weekend through March 2nd, 2025.

Groups are encouraged to spend the night at camp, but day trips are always welcome on ROMP and Polar Cub Weekends.

The Wilderness ROMP is January 17th. ROMP is a weekend filled with scheduled program activities for Scouts BSA-aged youth. You may pay the weekend fee which includes housing, or the day-only fee of $50 per person.

The Polar Cub Camp is two weekends this year. February 14-16th and February 28th-March 2. It is open to Cub Scout families only. The weekend is filled with activities for Cub Scout-age youth. You may pay the weekend fee which includes housing, or the day-only fee of $50 per person.

Parts A and B of the Health form are required for each event.

All fees for cabin and building rentals are due 30 days prior to your arrival

ROMP & Polar Cub Weekends

Saturday Only $50 per person includes 3 meals and a Patch

Winter SurTHRIVEal Tier 1:

Objective: Participants will use council-provided equipment to survive and thrive in a winter environment, with the ultimate goal being to sleep outdoors, outside their cabins.

Challenge Theme: The Zero Hero Award is given to Scouts who sleep outside when it is below zero.

Cost: $0!

Key Elements:

Equipment Provided: Scouts or participants will use some equipment provided by the council. This includes over boots, -20 sleeping bags, tarps, and sleeping pad.

Equipment Needed by Scouts: Sleeping bag (rated to at least -10), winter hat x2, snow pants, mittens or gloves (x2), long underwear (x2), warm socks (x2), winter boots, head lamp, water bottle, personal items.

Group Limit: A maximum of 8 Scouts and 2 Adults will take part in this Tier 1 challenge.

Activity Duration: Participants will meet with lead instructor at 9am on Saturday, at the Dining Hall. There will also be a class from 3-4pm for the participants and anyone interested in learning more about outdoor winter camping. After dinner, participants will get prepared for their night of sleeping outside.

Key Task: The participants' goal is to sleep outside of their cabin during the winter session, which introduces them to basic survival skills, such as quinzhee shelter building, fire-starting, and weather preparedness.
