Scoutmaster/ Assistant Scoutmaster Specific and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training!!

Northern Sky District is hosting another exciting Outdoor Leadership training session on October 17-18, 2026. Our courses always fill up quickly, so please sign up early and don't miss this excellent training opportunity. In addition to meeting the training requirements for Scoutmasters & Assistant Scoutmasters, this course is a fantastic introduction for parents and other adults to learn about Scouts, the BSA, and how Troops function in a fun, fast-paced & hands-on environment!

 

Participants in our “Fall Training Weekend” will complete the following courses

•     “Scoutmaster / Asst. Scoutmaster Positions Specific Training” and

•     “Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills Training”

Spend the weekend camping

•     Where: Camp Brantner-4141 225th St N, Glyndon, MN

•     When:  Arrive early Saturday morning, October 17 (8 AM) and leave Sunday at noon, October 18

•     What:   This IOLS course fulfills the requirements for both Scoutmaster Specific Training: Scoutmaster & Assistant Scoutmaster (S24) and Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (S11). Upon completion of the combined course, you will be Scoutmaster/Assistant Scoutmaster Position Trained.

 

Pre-work: To be considered fully trained as a Scoutmaster, Safeguarding Youth Training must also be completed. Participants will be asked to complete Safeguarding Youth Training prior to taking the course and will also be provided with other supplemental training material to review prior to the course.

Supplies: Participants will be required to stay overnight and camp outside as part of the training. Some materials will be provided by a local troop, and participants will be contacted a few days before the course regarding any of the following items that do not need to be supplied, contingent upon numbers. Participants may need to supply their own personal tents and camping items. They will also share any required patrol camping equipment. Every effort will be made to help participants connect with each other prior to the event. Food is provided for the weekend.  (Please let us know if any food allergies or special accommodations are required) This is a UNIFORM event. All participants are strongly encouraged to wear the full Scout BSA uniform for the weekend. (Please contact the staff if this is a concern, and we can assist.)

Cost: $45 per participant. The cost covers materials, facility fees, and meals for the weekend.
