Tower Level 1 Instructor Training (CS75)

Event Details

This course is for Scouters who want to learn how to help rig and facilitate the tower for unit/district/council climbing events and mature older scouts who want to staff the tower or help with unit/district/council climbing events. Youth older than 16 and younger than 18 can earn Instructor in Training. You will learn how to belay, properly inspect helmets & harnesses, tie climbing knots, rig a climb and belay, and rig a releasable rappel with an independent belay. You will practice rigging the tower multiple times so you will be comfortable with the gear.

Level 1 Climbing Instructors will be able to teach the Climbing Merit Badge and instruct youth in climbing and rappelling on natural rock, climbing towers, or climbing gyms, under the BSA program.

Prerequisites: Climb On Safely, Hazardous Weather Training, YPT (all online at my.scouting.org), plus  Leave No Trace 101 (LNT.org, about 45 minutes to complete)

Must bring completed Health Form A & B.
