Cardinal District BALOO
Event Details

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is Scouting America’s essential introductory outdoor training for Cub Scout leaders. The course prepares adult volunteers to safely plan and lead Cub Scout pack or den overnight camping trips, a requirement that mandates at least one BALOO-trained adult be present at every pack or Webelos overnighter.
BALOO consists of two parts:
- An online prerequisite module completed through My.Scouting.org, which covers foundational skills and safety requirements.
- A handson, inperson outdoor training session, typically lasting about 1.5 days, where leaders practice camping skills such as outdoor cooking, fire safety, knots, games, and planning ageappropriate outdoor activities.
The training equips leaders to create fun, safe, and wellorganized outdoor experiences that strengthen Cub Scout programs and encourage families to stay engaged with Scouting.
