Tread Lightly Trainer Course

Tread Lightly!®s Tread Trainer (TT) course is an 8-hour course designed to provide a “crash course” in outdoor ethics focusing on mechanized and motorized recreation on both land and water.
Participation in the course qualifies individuals to present the Tread Lightly! message to others within and outside of scouting. Participants will work with Master Tread Trainers (MTT) on understanding the role outdoor ethics play in the recreation community, learn the Tread Lightly! Principles for responsible recreation and be provided with the tools to conduct workshops. This training is of interest to all Scouters involved with Scouting America’s outdoor ethics program, including rank advancement, youth leadership positions, awareness and actions awards, merit badge counselors, and summer camp staff.
Registration is limited to 25 participants 18 years of age and older. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch on the day of the course.

This course requires a three-part registration process.

Complete the Tread Lightly! 101 Online Awareness Course and email your completion certificate to the lead instructor.
A Tread Lightly! membership is required to become a qualified Tread Trainer. Any membership level will fulfill this requirement. You can join Tread Lightly! here and email your confirmation to the lead instructor.
