Description of afternoon Contests
All contests will be done at the OA stage. Units can either cook at their site and bring it done, by the start time of judging or bring their cooking gear to the stage area to cook there.
Largest Pancake Contest– The unit will be tasked with making the largest pancake that can be flipped by them. We will be judging based on the diameter of the pancake at the thinnest point.
Tallest Pancake Stack– The unit will need to stack as many pancakes as possible on top of each other without assistance from syrup, toothpicks, or rods. The stack must be able to stand for 1 minute, the scouts will have from 2 to 2:20pm to stack their pancakes. Height will be judged from the top of the plate to the top of the stack. Also, pancakes cannot be more than 1/2 inch thick.
Best Pancake Design– Scouts will need to present their best designed pancake. This could be as simple as Mickey Mouse style to looking like Andre the Giant (bonus points will be awarded for any that look like me).
Best tasting Pancake– This one is open for interpretation. This could one single delicious pancake or a whole stack that tastes great. Toppings are allowed, also crepes will be considered, in my book they are pancakes.
Pancake Obstacle Sled/Relay race– This one will depend on weather. If there is snow and we can run sleds. the scouts will have to race sleds around our course. One scout will need to be in the sled with a plate of pancakes. There will be a penalty for any pancakes that are lost during the race. If there is no snow, we will have an obstacle course. The scouts will have to run the course while flipping a pancake in a pan, provide your own pan. We will have 4 legs of the race with at least one obstacle for them to do. Penalties will be given for any dropped pancakes.
