BB-Gun Rangemaster Training

For Cub Scouts to participate in either BB-gun or slingshot at a council sponsored camp they need to have a minimum of a BSA certified BB-gun rangemaster to supervise the activity. In order to provide more opportunities for packs to experience these activities at Camp Cutler, the Council’s Shooting Sports Committee will be conducting this training at Camp Cutler on Saturday, May 13, 2023. There will be two sessions, the first from 9:30 am to Noon and the second from 1:30 to 4:00 pm. The courses will be conducted by NRA certified rifle instructors.
The course will include topics on how these activities fit into the BSA’s goals and methods, BSA’s minimum requirements in terms of instructors and supervision to conduct a range activity, safe rifle handling, safe shooting, how to correctly shoot a BB-gun/slingshot, range standard operating procedures, the Cub Scout achievement program for range sports, and more.
Participants must be at least 21 years old and registered members of the BSA in good standing. There is no requirement of previous gun handling knowledge but it is helpful.
Registration for the course is done on Black Pug. Course size is limited to twelve participants per session, first come first served. There is no fee for this course.
