Step back in time for an unforgettable weekend where history truly comes alive. The Living History Campout at Sonnenberg Gardens invites Scouts from across the council to immerse themselves in hands-on history, skill-building, and classic Scouting fun at one of the Finger Lakes’ most iconic landmarks.
Throughout the weekend, Scouts will rotate through live historical reenactment stations, including:
Reynolds Battery cannons
Blacksmithing
Civil War–era supply wagon and camp life
Period cooking
Paul Bunyan–style lumberjack skills
Scouts will also have opportunities to work on merit badges, possibly including:
Collections
Farm Mechanics
American Heritage

Additional program elements include leather-making demonstrations, access to the historic mansion and grounds, and a lively campfire program. Units are encouraged to come prepared with a skit to share.
To complete the experience, Scouts will enjoy a Civil War–style stew prepared by reenactors, offering an authentic taste of history.
This weekend blends education, adventure, and fellowship into a one-of-a-kind Scouting experience.

General registration opens March 1.
Merit Badge and Paul Bunyan sign-ups open April 22. Participants must complete general registration and be paid in full before enrolling in Merit Badges or Paul Bunyan.
Food: Units will be expected to provide their own food outside of Saturday's lunch. Gas cooking ONLY.
Cubs at Sonnenberg
Cub Scouts will be able to attend during the day on May 9th.
