Massawepie CIT Program 2026

The CIT program is a three-week camp experience in which scouts develop leadership skills, learn staff skills, and participate in staff activities. Each CIT will be taking an active part in camp life: participating as part of a patrol, helping to plan and organize camp functions such as campfires, camp wide games, etc., working within a program area as an active staff member, and participating in leadership training, and team building exercises.
During week one, the CITs will be acting as a patrol within the camp. The CITs will be participating in the campfire and other activities. The CITs will also be patrol cooking within their site, creating a patrol name and flag, and participating in team building activities, leadership training among other things. The CITs will go on an overnight experience to one of the camp outposts.
The second week will consist of the CITs starting to take a more active role within the camp. During this week, CITs will be visiting the different program areas, getting to know the staff, and learning about how the camp runs. This is a time for CITs to begin to decide what program areas they are interested in working in. The CITs will also participate in the Trailblazers’ hike.
During the third week, CITs will be assigned to a program area. In this program area, CITs will be participate as a member of staff. They will learn the skills of the area, and be part of teaching them. At the close of each week, each CIT will receive an evaluation completed by the area director and the CIT director. This evaluation will be done by the area director and will discuss strengths and weaknesses as well as providing some feedback about how to improve.
Throughout the three weeks, CITs will be receiving training on different issues they will face as a staff member (counselor in training). These issues will include: conflict resolution, communication skills, team building, COPE, skit and song leading, camp scheduling, teaching skills, emergency procedures, time management, stress, crisis management, and many other topics pertinent to leadership training.
