Pawn's Gaming Challenge

Event Details

Who – All Scouting Youth and Adults are encouraged to come to camp for Pawns’ Gaming Challenge. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Venturing Scouts, Explorers, and Sea Scouts are invited for the day and will be broken into age appropriate groupings based on attendance.

Where / When – April 9th, 2022 at Camp Babcock-Hovey in Ovid, NY.

 

  1. Check in at the Trading Post Pavillion from 8-9 AM,
  2. Opening at the DIning Hall from 9-9:15 AM.
  3. Morning Session from 9:30-11:50
  4. Lunch from 12-1:00 PM,
  5. Afternoon Session from 1:30-3:50pm
  6. Closing and awards ceremony at the Dining Hall at 4 PM

Why - See if you are the Best Chess / Checkers Competitor in the Council! Every Competitor will get a free gift. Multiple Trophies and Prizes will be handed out in several age groups. Cubs and Scouts alike can enjoy core programs such as Shooting Sports, Climbing, Fishing, and Gaga! 

What - During the morning session, Scouts are eligible to work on the Chess Merit Badge or Game Design Merit Badge if they do not already have it. Cub Scouts will participate in an elective based on current rank and participate in other activities. In the afternoon a chess / checkers tournament will commence. Exact setup will depend on total registrations. The goal is to play as many games as possible. Lunch will be served at Noon and light snacks will be available throughout the day.

The following electives will be partially completed during the Gaming Weekend.

Bear – Marble Madness

Webelos/AOL – Game Design Pin

Cost – Includes a lunch and light snacks for all paid participants

  1. $25 per Competitor/ $10 per Cub Scout
  2. $10 per Adult if not competing (covers food)
  3. $5 late fee and $5 early bird fee pricing available (see online pricing)

Health Forms - All adults and Scouts must compete the BSA health forms parts A and B prior to attending Chess Challenge. You do not need to turn the form in but you must have the forms available in case of emergency.

Lodging - As always, overnight camping Friday and Saturday is optional for all attendees. Campsite Reservations will be handled through the Hovey booking system on a first come first serve basis. https://campreservation.com/397/Camps/342
