Retrace the 21-mile route taken by Major Benjamin Tallmadge and his forces of 80 Dragoons in November 1780 during the height of the American Revolution. Come celebrate USA 250 years with enriched history from your own backyard. Join us on this historic hike from Mount Sinai to Manor of St. George with an Overnight Campout at Cathedral Pines County Park. After landing at Old Mans Harbor in whaleboats from Connecticut, Tallmadge and his men trekked southward across Long Island and launched an overnight surprise attack on the British at "Fort St. George" in Mastic.

His patriots took the fort after a 10-minute battle and captured a British ship just off the coast. At the request of General George Washington, Tallmadge and a small party made a side trip to Coram and burned 300 tons of hay stored there, decimating British "horsepower, before rejoining the Dragoons and returning to Connecticut with 54 prisoners. Tallmadge forces suffered no casualties throughout the entire daring mission and was promoted to Colonel.
