Camp Gorton Centennial Celebration
Camp Gorton Centennial Celebration
Saturday July 13, 2024
For over one hundred years, youth from the Twin Tiers of the Five Rivers Council and youth from as far as Virginia and Kentucky have learned the virtues of scouting at Camp Gorton. Located on 336.5 acres on the eastern shore of Waneta Lake, in New York’s Finger Lake region, Camp Gorton has been referenced as America's Finest Scout Camp. This combination of history, experience, size, and location provides some of the best summer camp or weekend camping facilities of any Scout camp in the Finger Lakes region of New York. The heart of Camp Gorton is the Scouting program and its impact on the lives of all the young men and women who participate in this life changing organization.
We would like to invite all Scouts, Scouters, Family members and community members to join us as we celebrate a Century of Scouting on the shores of Lake Waneta.
The proceeds of the event will go towards two projects.
- One is expanding the program resources that are needed for our Summer operations.
- The second one will be helping to support the property improvements that are an ongoing effort supported by the councils Properties Committee and the Friends of Camp Gorton.
Come out and join us for tours around camp, games (bring your softball mitt), a great meal and fellowship with your camp friends.
