Firearms Rifle & Shotgun Training Class

This course is required BEFORE

Individuals can become certified as an

NRA Instructor for Rifle and Shotgun disciplines!

This is an opportunity to become NRA Basic Firearms Trained in one day.

For those who wish to become more familiar with rifle and shotgun firearms. We will be covering safe gun handling, proper way to shoot these firearms, and how to maintain the firearms. These courses will take all day. Upon completion of these courses the participant will be eligible to take the NRA Instructor courses for Rifle and Shotgun, (Rifle and Shotgun instructor training will be given on April 25-27, 2025 at Camp Gorton, which requires a separate registration. Information will be provided during the training) which will allow you to be a merit badge counselor and be able to conduct exercises for the whole merit badge, you will also be able to help during Summer Camp when needed.

Long Gun Knowledge               Safe Handling                  Ammunition Knowledge

Firing the 1st Shot                    Shooting Positions           Evaluate a Shooting Program

This course will include “live-firing” exercises. In order to complete the certification, applicants must participate in ALL REQUIRED trainings, complete an exam. If you move on to the instructor course it will also require you to submit an application with the appropriate fees to the National Rifle Association.

BRING: Your Own Lunch, coffee & water provided. Hearing and Eye protection if you have your own.
