2025 COUNCIL PINEWOOD DERBY CHAMPIONSHIPS!

Date & Location: Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Galleria Mall (in front of the old Lord & Taylor)
Schedule:
Pack Races: 10:00 AM
Race of Champions (ROC): 3:00 PM
Who Can Participate in the ROC:
All Pack Champions (top racer from each division - Lions, Tigers, Wolves, Bears, and Webelos)
Cost: $8.00 per Cub (covers trophies, patches, and supplies)
Registration Deadline: February 27, 2025 (online only - no race-day registration!)
Car Building:
- Cubs build with adult guidance
- Adults explain any technical help so Cubs learn for future projects
Car Specs:
- ONLY use the BSA kit (no pre-cut kits from online or craft stores)
Wheels:
- Official BSA wheels only (no custom ones)
- Light sanding and polishing OK
- NO lathing, shaving, or trimming
- NO oil, grease, or silicone spray on axles or wheels (powdered graphite only)
- Wheel hubs can be polished
- Car must be freewheeling (no starting devices)
Axles:
- Official BSA axles only (the ones in the kit or BSA nails)
- Filing crimp marks and sanding/polishing OK
- Bending allowed (at least 2 wheels must touch, and all other car dimensions must still be met)
- Use pre-cut axle slots if possible
- Drilling holes for axles OK with restrictions (ask if you need help understanding them)
- NO wheel bearings, washers, or bushings
Weight:
- Max 5 oz. total
- Added weight on the bottom must not mess with track guides
Finished Car Dimensions:
- Max Length: 7 inches
- Max Width: 2 ¾ inches
- Max Height: 2 ¾ inches
- Min. Width Between Wheels: 1 ¾ inches
- Min. Underbody Clearance: 3/8 inches
- Wheelbase: Between 4 ¼" and 4 3/8"
Pre-Race & Race Day Rules:
- Pack leaders collect Champion cars after Pack Races (to prevent changes before ROC)
- Only pre-registered cars can race
- Car's builder doesn't have to be at ROC for Best in Show award (with a good excuse)
- Details like weights, steering wheels, drivers, and paint are OK if firmly attached (no tape)
- Unboxing only in designated area (by Cubmaster)
- Inspection: ALL cars must pass inspection first (officials can disqualify cars) - help is available if your car doesn't pass
- Officials' Decisions are Final: If there's a disagreement, the judges' decision wins
Awards: Given out after the ROC
