Welcome to Silver Fawn’s 2023 Spring Campout. This year we turned the Camporee into a COOKoree. This is a way to encourage Troops to make hot meals that are more than hotdogs. Patrols will be competing in multiple competitions throughout the weekend to win the Master COOKoree Champion for the weekend.
We want Scouts and Adults to have a Safe and Enjoyable weekend. Be careful this weekend as there will be the risk of sharp objects, fire, and the ever-present of food illness. Adults are encouraged to advise and let the Scouts do this weekend. COOKoree will be guided by the Scout Oath and Scout Law. Troops are required to maintain 2 Deep leadership.
General Rules:
Heat sources must be raised off the ground at least 2 feet. No killing the grass.
Bathrooms are provided. Everyone needs to keep the bathroom cleaned.
Chopped Breakfast Challenge: Patrols will be given a number of secret ingredients at Sunrise Saturday morning. Patrols will take ingredients back to campsite and make a breakfast dish. Any other ingredients can be added to the secret ingredients, but all the secret ingredients MUST be used in some manner. No restrictions on cooking methods.
Hot sandwich Cook-off: Patrols will be making a hot sandwich using Troop provided ingredients. No restrictions on cooking methods.
Dutch Oven Cook-off: Patrols will create a Dutch oven creation using Troop provided ingredients. A Dutch oven MUST be used but doesn’t need to be the sole method in cooking this dish.
Cooking Scoring: Chopped Breakfast Challenge, Hot Sandwich Cook-off, and Dutch Oven Cook-Off will all be judged in the same format. At least 2 members of each patrol will present the dish to judge. Presenters will explain their dish to the judges. Entry should be 1 plate with enough on it for 3 judges to share a sample. Each judge will award up to 3 points for each of the following categories: Taste, Creativity, Presentation, Complexity, and Cooking methods/Secret Ingredient usage.
Morning/Afternoon Demonstrations: Patrols will be given a rotation schedule to go through the different demonstrations.
Recipe Exchange: Does your Troop have some great go to recipes? Is your Troop looking for great recipes? Each Troop is encouraged to bring 10-15 copies of 3 of their favorite recipes to share and swap with other Troops.
Campfire program: Patrols are encouraged to participate in our campfire program with a skit/song/entertainment. Patrols can gain up to 3 points for participation (1 point per skit)
Campsite Inspection: Troop Campsites will be inspected and graded using the scorecard below. If Troops have multiple Patrols competing, each patrol will receive the Troop campsite grade.
Master Patrol Champion: All points from the 3 cooking competitions, Cantaloupe Carving, Campfire program, and Campsite inspection will be totaled together for our 2023 Cook o Ree Master Patrol.
After registration you will receive a conformation email. If you don't please check your spam folder. Look for an email from no-reply@247scouting.org
